Founder's Journey

Adesuwa Jo, Founder of EMPRESNG

I’m Adesuwa Jo Campbell, a proud Torontonian with roots in Barbados and Grenada. My name, Adesuwa, means “in the midst of prosperity,” a reflection of my journey and deep African heritage.

With a background in Office Administration, Travel & Tourism, and Social/Human Services, I’ve always been drawn to connecting people and cultures. Founding EMPRESNG isn’t just about business—it’s a personal mission to celebrate and uplift African artistry. As a mother of three, grandmother of two and a wife, legacy and cultural preservation are at the heart of everything I do.

My love for food, travel, and community has shaped my approach to EMPRESNG. Transformative trips to Nigeria and Ghana deepened my commitment to showcasing the beauty of the Motherland. From a humble start at the Pickering Flea Market in 2020 to growing into a thriving cultural boutique, EMPRESNG continues to bridge cultures through authentic, handmade creations.

Our NaJhoKeDa home décor line, named in honour of my family, is a testament to that legacy. Every piece we offer tells a story, crafted by skilled artisans whose talents deserve a global stage.

Join me on this extraordinary journey of cultural discovery. Let’s celebrate African heritage together—one beautifully crafted piece at a time.
