Sankofa

Sankofa is a powerful concept from the Akan people of Ghana, often symbolized by a bird with its head turned backward while its feet face forward, holding an egg in its beak.

The word "Sankofa" comes from the Akan language and translates to "go back and get it."

The essence of Sankofa is about learning from the past to build a better future. It encourages individuals and communities to look back at their roots, traditions, and history to inform and guide their present actions and future aspirations.
